One Minute Film Collection
memory & identity (60×60 secs)
selection curated by Ali Zaidi (motiroti.UK)

–>About 60×60 Secs
These films have been selected from the project 60×60 Secs, the first project of the wider programme 360° Britain India Pakistan, which consists of sixty one-minute films commissioned by motiroti via an open submission. Established and emerging artists from the South Asian Diaspora – twenty each from Britain, India and Pakistan – present their personal perspective on what ‘home and boundaries’ mean to them. Using a wide and highly creative variety of media and techniques, the films uncover new voices and images, presenting comic, unsettling and arresting stories of everyday life and global events.

–>About motiroti
For over ten years motiroti has made internationally acclaimed and award winning art that transforms relationships between people, communities and spaces. Learning is core to our philosophy, and we foster participation and collaboration across disciplines and between different cultures. Making multiple perspective artworks for the public realm, the projects, both artistic and educational, challenge and tease the perceptions of artists, organisations, audiences and individuals. (www.motiroti.com)

“motiroti actively engages individuals and communities with place and context. Translating these engagements into works of beauty, created as a result of the agency of the participants…. a form of radical art for the modern consumer age”. Zayd Minty, Cultural Producer and Curator

“motiroti’s work is like being immersed in a wide-screen cinematic experience with surround sound. Their thoughtful and beautiful projects inspire and tickle the sensibilities of an exceptionally wide range of audience”. Shekhar Kapur, Filmmaker
